On Wednesday, May 2nd, The Lay Centre welcome the new Rector of the Pontifical Irish College, Father Ciarán O’Carroll, who celebrated Mass for the community, gave a delightful and thought provoking homily, and also joined us for dinner.
Before taking up his new post here in Rome in September, 2011, Father O’Carroll served as the Episcopal Vicar for Evangelization in the Archdiocese of Dublin and Administrator of the Catholic University Church on Saint Stephen’s Green, Dublin.
Father O’Carroll holds a doctorate in ecclesiastical history and has been the author of several publications on the subject including a study of a previous rector of the Irish College Paul Cardinal Cullen – Portrait of a Practical Nationalist (2008). He is a graduate of University College Dublin and the Pontifical Gregorian University.
Father O’Carroll’s visit to the Lay Centre continues a longstanding relationship between the Lay Centre and the Pontifical Irish College, on whose premises the Lay Centre was once located.
