The director of The Lay Centre at Foyer Unitas and professor of Spirituality at the Pontifical Gregorian University, Donna Orsuto, gave an interview to the Vatican Radio about the role of women and laity in the Church after the release of Pope Francis’ apostolic exhortation Evangelii Gaudium, in which he mentions both issues.
The reports and the interview, by Laura Ieraci (former Lay Centre resident), can be accessed on the following links.
Women make ‘indispensable contribution’ to society: “My hope is that it would become normative that women would be consulted, that women would be involved, that their gifts would be put at the service of the Church”, she comments.
Laity called to more formation, greater responsibility: “The lack of formation among the laity is a real serious issue because lay people are not equipped to take their full responsibility in the Church and in the world,” said Donna.
