Interested in knowing where things are at in the Methodist-Catholic dialogue?
The Centro Pro Unione and The Lay Centre have organized an event on 22 January that will offer a key opportunity to be updated on this 50-year dialogue.
The invitation to gather for the event, planned on the occasion of the annual Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, is extended to the entire community.
The afternoon will begin with an Ecumenical Celebration of the Word at 4:30 p.m.
Archbishop David Moxon, the Archbishop of Canterbury’s Representative to the Holy See and the director of Rome’s Anglican Centre, will preside.
Rev. Dr. Tim MacQuiban, pastor of Rome’s Ponte Sant’Angelo Methodist Church, will preach. Dr. MacQuiban is also director of the Methodist Ecumenical Office.
A fascinating lecture on the theme “Methodists and Catholics in Post-Conciliar Dialogue, 1965-2015” will follow, by Rev. Geoffrey Wainwright, professor emeritus of the American Duke University. The afternoon will conclude with refreshments.
The celebration and lecture will take place at the Centro Pro Unione, located at Via Santa Maria dell’Anima, 30 (Piazza Navona).
The upcoming Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, will be observed throughout the universal Church, from 18 to 25 January, 2015. This year’s theme is inspired by the words of Jesus in the Gospel story of the Samaritan woman at the well, “Give me a drink” (Jn 4,7).
We hope our friends will join us in great number. See the official invitation below.
