Alumna meets German Chancellor Angela Merkel

Dr. Lejla Demiri, an alumna of The Lay Centre, was one of seven Islamic scholars and students to meet with German Chancellor Angela Merkel last month.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel invited representatives of Islamic theology to the German Chancellery in Berlin last month.

The informal discussions, held 26 January, were an occasion to take stock of the situation and the future of Islamic theology in the country.

Among the seven representatives was an alumna of The Lay Centre, Dr. Lejla Demiri, who holds the Chair of Islamic Doctrine at Tübingen University.
