Three women will be the main panelists at a Rome conference on the theme, Women’s Leadership in Conflict Resolution: Faith Perspectives.
The two-hour event will be held 14 April in the Aula Minor of the Pontifical University of St Thomas Aquinas (Angelicum), from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Coffee and refreshments will be served at 3:30 p.m.
The three women include philosophy professor Dr Irene Kajon of La Sapienza University; Dr IlhamAllah Chiara Ferrero, secretary general of the Italian Islamic Religious Community; and theology professor Dr Donna Orsuto of the Pontifical Gregorian University and the Angelicum. Dr Orsuto is also the director of The Lay Centre.
They will speak about the role of women in conflict resolution from Jewish, Muslim and Christian perspectives respectively.
Cardinal Peter Turkson, president of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace, will give the opening remarks and Rabbi Jack Bemporad, director of the John Paul II Center for Interreligious Dialogue, will moderate the question period.
The rector of the Angelicum, Dominican Father Miroslav Adam, and the U.S. Ambassador to the Holy See, Kenneth Hackett, will offer words of welcome.
