Our resident community on Wednesday met Prof Lejla Demiri, an alumna of The Lay Centre,  who currently teaches Islamic doctrine at the University of Tübingen, Germany. She was in Rome with a group of Muslim students from Germany and their colleagues from Cambridge Muslim College, England, for one of The Lay Centre’s yearly seminars, “Muslims and Christians in Dialogue.”

By the end of our community evening, Prof Demiri told us how grateful her students were for visiting Rome and having an intensive learning program on Christian faith. They seem to have appreciated in particular the personal contact with people from around the world at The Lay Centre.

We were also very pleased to welcome a good friend of The Lay Centre, Fr Carl Markelz, bursar general of the Carmelite Order, who presided Mass and joined us for dinner.
